Bungy Bear Goes Fishing

 By Robert W. Cluney

Bungy Bear walked to the river right off the bank

Full in the water and promptly sank

He bobbed to the top I want you to note

His tummy was so empty he just had to float

Now I may not be smart, but one thing I know

If you want to do some fishing that is no way to go

A fist popped up and looked Bungy Bear in the eye

He said, I’ve seen some strange fish, but you I don’t buy

Bungy Bear reached for the fish, but the fish took a dive

He said, why don’t you pick on someone your size

Bungy turned over an suddenly found

What was facing up is now facing down

Though they both had a tail, Bungy was no fish

Breathing underwater just wasn’t his dish

So to the shore he started with haste

If he was to keep on breathing there was no time to waste

Bungy pulled himself out on the bank

And set down on a rock so he could think

Now thinking is very hard on the brain

When your tummy is growling and you can’t think a thing

He saw some berries growing close to the shore

So he put one in his mouth then ate some more

He ate all he could, for this was his nature

Then he walked off looking for another adventure

Early in the morning as the sun began to rise

Bungy Bear rolled over and opened up his eyes

He rubbed his tummy with one paw as the other scratched his head

A silly thing to do before you get out of bed

Bungy Bear rubbed his tummy because he was hungry you know

And he scratched his head to make his brain go

Bungy Bear was so silly in the things that he’d do

But it’s a tickly story that I’ll tell it to you

He got to his feet and walked down the hall

There he stopped to sniff a sweet daffodil

But what Bungy bear didn’t realize

Buzzy Bee was there first, picking up supplies

Bungy Bear’s nose must have touched in the wrong place

Because what Buzzy Bee did was a social disgrace

He backed up and pushed against Bungy Bear’s nose

And said hold it there buddy, that’s as far as it goes

That bee must have had a tack in his tail

For Bungy grabbed his nose and started to wail

That bee gave a giggle as he flew away

Getting even with that bear surely made his day

The hunger in Bungy’s tummy beat the hurt of his nose

So he decided that bee was the least of his woes

He thought fish for breakfast would be a nice treat

So he gave his nose a least rub and got to his feet
