Bungy Bear and Buzzy Bee

 By Robert W. Cluney

There once was a bear that lived in the woods

He wasn’t really bad, but he really wasn’t good

And as he walked along he would stop and play

And he looked for a honey tree along the way

He spied a fox so sly in a bush

He slipped up behind him and gave him a push

The fox gave a yelp and rolled down the hill

If he didn’t reach the bottom he’s rolling still

Bungy Bear gave a giggle and slapped his sides

Then danced around in a circle and laughed until he cried

He walked on a little further and saw a bump on the ground

With his big paw he pushed it around

Up popped a gofer as mad as could be

He said sir that’s my house you pushed in on me

The gofer disappeared back down in the ground

And left Bungy Bear looking all around

As he looked up he saw a wonderful sight

There was a bee buzzing along in full flight

Bungy started to run with his eyes on the bee

And bam, Bungy Bear ran into a tree

He set there and rubbed the lump on his head

He said to himself I should have stayed in bed

As Bungy Bear watched the spots before his eyes

His eyes flew open in the greatest surprise

That’s not a spot, that’s a bee

And his flew straight into that hole in the tree

Bungy climbed the tree an’ stuck his nose in the hole

He could smell the honey so dear to his soul

Buzzy Bee took offense at the great sniffing snout

And took a bite to make it get out

Bungy Bear gave a yell and fell out of the tree

Buzzy Bee said Bungy, have a lump on me

Bungy got to his feet, his nose began to throb

He swore to that bee, your honey I’ll rob

He climbed up the tree and stuck his paw in the hole

And low and behold, he’d reached his goal

Buzzy put up a very good fight

He attacked that paw with all his might

He charge like a demon, determined to win

But he couldn’t get through the fur to Bungy Bear’s skin

Bungy Bear licked the honey till he had his fill

Then he stretched out for a nap on the side of a hill

He slept on through the evening and on through the night

To start another adventure when it come daylight
